Why oh why?

Why must people play really crappy sad songs on bar jukeboxes? Or for that matter why must people play electronic dance music on a bar jukebox when the bar is known as a backwoods dive? Case in point, one night recently, my drinking buddy and I were having a meeting at the Townhouse Bar in Charlevoix. While trying to conduct business (drinking and talking) a bunch of fashionable girlies decided to throw on some electronic dance music. No one was dancing and it was just annoying. Then, I guess as a reply, some local put on some really sappy old country song that made me want to break a beer bottle and use the jagged glass to cut myself. The battle between the fashion girls and old local sad redneck continued throughout the night. Why?

and since WHEN has Charlevoix been considered "backwoods" ??? Backwoods wanna be maybe... which explains the country music. You need to come on over to my side of the state if you want to experience "backwoods". I think you would be hard pressed to avoid country music even in an authentic backwoods dive - pretty sure they do country at Tower Bar, Vicki Jays (Wolverine), and Don's in Petoskey..... Petoskey isn't "backwoods" either but Don's is authentic....

While Charlevoix likes to think that it is high class, it is backwoods town with high profile tourists. Visit it in the winter and you will see, especially at the Townhouse Bar. Every town pretty much has its backwoods bar.

If only H.G. Wells had been exposed to Charlevoix before writing "War of the Worlds" the radio program would have been much more musical.

Other people's horrible choices in music are designed by the laws of nature to make you spend your quarters in the jukebox. It's a divine plan.
