Down here, I enjoy taking my daughter to visit the Dexter cider mill. It's the oldest continuously operated cider mill in Michigan. Cool crisp air, eating fresh hot greasy donuts, drinking un-pasterized cider straight from the press, by the river surrounded by glorious fall colors.

But I would also suggest a road trip to the U.P. in October just to soak up all that autumn has to offer. The destination could be any cabin or cottage with a fireplace near the water, that's my idea of heaven. Or even an inexpensive motel. Off season rates are a great value and the fewer number of people visiting makes for a peaceful and relaxing time. Heck, the drive up I-75 is beautiful and worth the gas money alone!

Get out and enjoy fall in Michigan!!

Just my two cents :o)
